About KPhiG
What is Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc.?
Founded on November 8th, 1998, by 27 visionary women, Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. holds the distinction of being the nation’s first South Asian-interest-based sorority. Though it is labeled as a South Asian Interest Sorority, Kappa Phi Gamma opens its arms to women from all ethnicities, cultures, and walks of life. The sorority seeks individuals who are driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in their communities and are committed to living by the eight core principles that define the sisterhood. These principles—Character, Leadership, Scholarship, Sisterhood, Service, Culture, Womanhood, and Self—guide the personal and professional growth of each member.
The sorority emphasizes inclusivity and promotes pluralism, ensuring that all members feel a deep sense of belonging and support. Over the years, Kappa Phi Gamma has welcomed sisters from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, creating a diverse and dynamic network of empowered women. With a presence at 20 undergraduate universities and a membership exceeding 850 women, the sorority continues to expand, actively cultivating leaders who aim to inspire and create meaningful change in their communities, careers, and society as a whole.
In addition to fostering leadership and personal growth, Kappa Phi Gamma is deeply committed to service. The sorority’s national philanthropy is cancer awareness, reflecting its dedication to raising awareness, supporting research, and contributing to the fight against cancer. As Kappa Phi Gamma continues to grow, it remains a beacon for women who are not only passionate about making a difference but also cherish the values that have been passed down since its founding in the Jester Basement at the University of Texas at Austin.
Today, Kappa Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc. stands as a testament to the power of sisterhood, driven by a vision of unity, cultural celebration, and unwavering commitment to personal and collective advancement.
