Easing your concerns for Kappa Phi Gamma’s National Convention

Welcome Parents, to the Kappa Phi Gamma National Convention in Nashville!

As a parent, we understand you may have questions and concerns about what our National Convention entails and how it benefits your child. We want to provide you with all the information you need to feel confident in this enriching experience for your daughter.

What is Convention?

Kappa Phi Gamma’s National Convention is much more than just a gathering. It’s a forum where our Sorors—both Active and Alumnae—come together to grow, not just as members of our sorority, but as individuals and leaders even beyond the realm of the sorority. Convention provides opportunities for personal development, networking, and skill-building that extend far beyond the typical college experience and creates a lasting positive impact and improvement on the attendee’s professional development exponentially.

What Happens at Convention?

At convention, your child will engage in a variety of events and activities aimed at enhancing both personal and professional skills, which may include:

  • Leadership Development:Interactive workshops designed to help attendees strengthen their leadership abilities, communication, and teamwork skills. Learning how to manage an organization and lead Sorors in multi-faceted meetings, manage fundraisers and partner with external organizations, promoting growth of the organization, creating a foundation for sorors to build upon, and many more skills are important to build and display in order to be a successful professional. Kappa Phi Gamma provides these opportunities so that Sorors may become leaders and ambassadors in their field, and is a great addition to any résumé.
  • Professional Growth Sessions:Practical workshops that focus on resume building, interview techniques, and career planning, providing your child with tools to succeed in their future careers. Kappa Phi Gamma has built a Sisterhood that promotes the development of Academic and Professional skills in order to give a holistic experience to all Sorors and plans to expand on these skills at Conference.
  • Financial Literacy:Seminars on financial planning, budgeting, and smart money management, empowering members to make informed decisions on how to manage the finances of an organization and possibly make informed decisions on their financial future. This skill will translate into the professional world and display your daughter as a strong leader.
  • Mentorship and Networking:Opportunities for Active members to connect with Alumnae and industry professionals, forming valuable relationships that can benefit them beyond college. Our Alumni network is expansive with Alumni from countless different fields. For a young professional, having good networking skills and connections that can provide them opportunities is invaluable during and after college. In the past, Alumni have presented many career and internship opportunities for our undergraduate and post graduate Sorors.
  • Philanthropy and Community Service:Activities centered around giving back to the community, reflecting our commitment to service and social responsibility. As mentioned, our Philanthropy is Cancer Awareness and we hope to render service in order to better our society and our sorority. We aim to create a passion for strong leaders who are willing to be ambassadors in order to bring about change and contribute to our philanthropy

Safety and Supervision

We know that your child’s safety is your top priority. Rest assured, Kappa Phi Gamma’s National Convention is a well-organized, closely supervised event. All activities are conducted in a safe, supportive environment. Our venues in Nashville are selected for their security and convenience, and we have clear protocols in place to ensure the well-being of all attendees throughout the event. Our itinerary has detailed information about when and where our events will take place.

While Kappa Phi Gamma has dedicated events and event spaces, any free time or time apart from our scheduled hours will be the responsibility of the individual Sorors.

Why Nashville?

Nashville is an exciting and culturally rich city, offering a perfect backdrop for a weekend of learning, bonding, and personal growth. The city’s vibrant atmosphere adds to the experience, allowing our Sorors to enjoy the local culture while focusing on their personal and professional development.
